ライフ・ストーリー
6月 2, 1956

Clifton Nathaniel Hammond Jr. was born June 2nd 1956 to Clifton Napoleon Hammond and Alberta Pauline Hammond. He was the oldest of 4 siblings: Stanley W.  Hammond (Debbie), Dolores Knighting (Melvin), Lisa Hammond-Edwards and Gwendolyn Rogers; 3 children: Derrick J. Jones, Sharla and Brianna Hammond; one granddaughter: Landry.

Clifton was a star football player in high school and went on to become an esteemed football player for the Texas Southern University Tigers on a full ride scholarship. Clifton settled down in Houston, Texas where he married Pamela Hammond on December 3rd 1994 along with his adopted daughter, Sharla, whom she first referred to as “Daddy Clipton”. On June 12th 1995, Clifton welcomed his youngest daughter and twin, Brianna Hammond.

Clifton was a hard worker who prided himself in providing for his family and had a successful working career as a professional hazmat truck driver for over three decades with Slay Transportation and Dupre’ Logistics where he made lifelong connections and he received many awards of excellence. Brianna and Sharla realized their Dad worked long hours, while the family was asleep; he would be on the road travelling all over the southern states. His favorite snacks that fueled him on the road were peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Dr. Pepper. At home, Clifton would often bring joy to the household with his singing. Custom mix cassettes with his favorite artists such as, The Spinners, The Commodores, Luther Vandross and The Temptations were his biggest vices, “Going in Circles” was in constant rotation.

Clifton was a Solid Rock Baptist Church member and more recently, made a church home with Christian Tabernacle where he served on the usher board.

Clifton was a remarkable husband to me; our twenty-two year journey wasn’t always easy. However, Clifton consistently demonstrated the Fruits of the Spirit to his last day. Clifton treated me like a Jewel.  Clifton was my Gem!

Clifton leaves behind to his family and friends a loving, Christ-filled, and genuine legacy. His favorite scripture was Psalms 19:14: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, Be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.
